What it is...
Scaperboard, as it is called in the U.K., or Scratchboard in North America is an exciting art medium by which images are created on a specially treated black surface to reveal a white layer beneath. The result is a vivid, crisp and breathtaking image of stunning beauty and contrast.
Scratchboard art is a unique type of direct engraving, a process whereby an image is incised or cut into a surface. The resultant art is achieved by making small lines, marks, strokes and dots for maximum effect.
